What is the submission deadline?
Abstracts for both DGAV and DGVS must be submitted by April 30, 2025, at the latest.
In what format should the abstract be submitted?
The following structure is required: Introduction / Objectives / Methodology / Results / Conclusion

Title: Max. 300 characters (including spaces)

Can I submit an abstract that has already been presented at another event in Germany?
Abstracts that have already been presented or published at another event in Germany cannot be submitted. However, abstracts that have only been partially published or published with preliminary results may be submitted.
Additionally, abstracts that are published or presented at the international UEG and ECCO congresses taking place in Germany in 2025 can be submitted.
Can I submit an abstract that has already been presented at another event outside of Germany?
Abstracts that have already been presented or published at another event outside of Germany can be submitted.

What are the responsibilities of the submitting author?
Communication about the submitted abstract will be conducted exclusively through the contact details of the submitting author („einreichender Autor“). Only this person will be informed about the status of the abstract via email and is responsible for informing co-authors about the status of the abstract.
What needs to be considered when using AI for abstract creation?
Only abstracts that comply with the principles of good scientific practice and contain valid results can be accepted. The use of AI in the design process of the abstract is not fundamentally excluded. To ensure transparency, this must be indicated when the abstract is submitted.
What confirmations must I give before submitting?
- The content of the abstract cannot be changed after submission. The abstract can be published in this form
- You agree to the electronic publication of the abstract in the Zeitschrift für Gastroenterologie (ZfG), on www.viszeralmedizin.com, and in the Viszeralmedizin app. By doing so, you also consent to the publication of all images contained in the abstract.
- Only the submitting author (corresponding author) will be informed about the status of the abstract via email
- The abstract has not been presented at a congress of a national professional society or association.
I did not receive a confirmation email after submission. What could be the reason?
Sometimes it may take a while for emails to be delivered. Please also check your spam folder.
If you do not receive an email within the next hour after submission, please contact the congress office at kongress@dgvs.de.
How can an already submitted abstract be withdrawn?
Until the submission deadline (30 April 2025), abstracts can be withdrawn by the authors themselves through the existing account. After the submission deadline, this is only possible by sending an email to kongress@dgvs.de.
How does the selection process work?
The abstract reviewers of DGVS and DGAV will evaluate the submitted abstracts. The submitting author will be informed of the acceptance or rejection of the abstract via email during June 2025. In case of acceptance, the presentation time will also be communicated.
My abstract has been accepted. What are the next steps?
The email regarding the acceptance of the abstract contains information about the date, time, and length of the abstract presentation. The presenting author is expected to give the presentation. The presentation is automatically confirmed and does not need to be confirmed. Please send presentation cancellations, including the abstract number, to kongress@dgvs.de.
Please note that acceptance does not automatically register you for the congress. Even as a presenting author, you must register for the congress independently. If you do not have active membership with DGVS or DGAV, the normal registration fee for the congress will apply.
All accepted abstracts will be published electronically in the August issue of the Zeitschrift für Gastroenterologie (ZfG).
