FAQ Abstracts for Viszeralmedizin 2026
Key questions and answers after the Submission Deadline.
How does the selection process work?
The abstract reviewers of DGVS and DGAV evaluate the submitted abstracts. Once the review process is complete, the congress team makes the final descision whether the abstract will be accepted as an Oral Presentation (FV), a Short Oral Presentation (KV), or rejected. The submitting author will be informed via email about the acceptance or rejection of the abstract during June 2026. In the case of acceptance, the presentation time and date will also be communicated.
What are the responsibilities of the submitting author?
All communication regarding the submitted abstract is handled exclusively through the author listed in the contact details (submitting author). Only this person will be informed about the status of the abstract via email. It is their responsibility to inform any co-authors about the status of the abstract, if applicable.
My abstract has been accepted. What happens next?
The acceptance email will include information about the date, time, and duration of the abstract presentation. The designated presenter is the so-called “presenting author.” The presentation is considered confirmed automatically and does not require separate confirmation. If you need to cancel your presentation, please notify us as early as possible by sending an email including the abstract number to kongress@dgvs.de.
Please note that acceptance of the abstract does not automatically register you for the congress. Even as a presenting author, you must register for the congress yourself. If you are not an active member of DGVS or DGAV, the standard registration fee applies.
Where will the accepted abstracts be published?
All accepted abstracts will be published electronically in the August issue of the Zeitschrift für Gastroenterologie (ZfG).
Who is allowed to present an accepted abstract at the congress?
An abstract may only be presented at the congress by a person who is listed as an author on the abstract.
How can an accepted abstract be withdrawn?
After the submission deadline, an accepted abstract can only be withdrawn by sending an email to kongress@dgvs.de.
